Stakes & Fangs
Final project contains these modifications:
- Replaced all sprites (player, enemy, environment) with pixel art made in Procreate.
- I created damage animations for every sprite and a bat flapping animation for the bat enemy- these were unable to be incorporated in Unity.
- I attempted to replace the projectile sprite with a stake sprite I made in Procreate, complete with animation to make it look like it was flying.
- Added new enemy sprites and prop sprites with pixel art I made in Procreate. These enemies behave differently, are slower, and have more health than the base sprites that were replaced with the bat enemy type.
- Created entirely new UI including the main menu and pause menu. Reskinned the game cursor as well to be more on theme.
- Created two new levels including a maze level and a final boss fight arena.
- Created two original songs to better fit the theme. "Boss Fight Theme" plays in the main menu and during the boss fight. "Gothic Synth" plays during level I and level II. Both songs are ~a minute long. I created these using the free version of SoundTrap. There is an included screenshot of my workplace.
- Created splash art for the main menu and a crossbow logo with game title.
- Changed fire rate during Level III's boss battle so there would be a heightened sense of difficulty and the boss battle theme could play for longer.
Bugs/Unfortunate Mishaps:
- I can not get the player to take damage no matter what I do. So essentially, the game is impossible to lose.
- The pause menu is still coming up every time a level starts. I was able to fix the bug where it popped up when the game began, but it still comes up every beginning of a level.
- At the end of the game, the "you won!" screen is not popping up; once the game is finished, you have to exit the game.
- Every sprite I made has accompanying animations. I can not get these to work.
- The stake projectile unfortunately did not make it to the end of the game. Unsure why the current projectile refuses to be reskinned.
- I replaced the sound effects in the game to a bow fwip sound for firing and additionally a "walking on cobblestone" sound effect. These are not playing in the final build. No idea why.
I intend to fix all the issues before adding this game to my portfolio.
